“Each letter of Hastings is a scene representing parts of the community that make Hastings unique,” said Dani Schwinn, mural artist. “The hardest part was narrowing it down because there are so many things to love about our community.”
Responding to an Urgent Need
“This is a great example of the partnerships that exist in our community,” explains Dan Peters, executive director of the Hastings Community Foundation. “We are always seeking ways to get the most impact from our efforts. Partnering with our United Way allowed us to multiply the resources available for addressing a real community need.”

New equipment makes food distribution more efficient
“These carts have increased the ease and efficiency with which thousands of pounds of food is distributed to those receiving a sack lunch”, said John McDonald, Regional Director of Catholic Social Services, which oversees the Open Table program. “They are an essential tool in our daily distribution of food.”
